My modern approach to woodturning allows me to create unique pieces which uses materials and techniques not commonly associated with woodturning such as steam bent wood and steel plate. My work mainly centres on using native or reclaimed timber as an interesting natural canvas for turning and embellishing.
I started woodturning in 2015 after receiving a grant to set up a workshop. Since then, my woodturning has become very contemporary, combining woods with colour, metal and gilding. I have had to develop my own techniques to create the balance of artistic embellishment and form.
